Children's House

An Authentic Montessori Environment
(3 to 5 years)

At Mont21, we know these early years are when children importantly need to develop the characteristics of independence, self-confidence and social awareness as well as acquiring a firm foundation for later learning.

The children follow the long established and proven Montessori curriculum including:

  • Practical Life

  • Sensorial

  • Language

  • Mathematics

  • Understanding of the World

The children also enjoy Art and Design, Music & Movement, Construction, Physical Education, Cookery, Gardening, Forest School and Yoga.

The children are encouraged to do things for themselves and have freedom of choice under the guidance and with the support of their own designated Montessori Directress. There is a low staff to child ratio of 1:8 which provides personalised care and nurturing.

The class is a hive of activity but with a sense of calmness and purposefulness that is not ordinarily found in this young age group.

After arrival and circle time, the children enjoy a 3 hour work cycle where they are free to choose an activity from the shelves, to do art or messy play in the garden and to take a healthy snack which is available throughout the morning.

In the afternoons, the children enjoy practical hands-on activities such as cookery, art, gardening, a fun science experiment, coding or Yoga under the trees in the garden.

The children are carefully observed and their progress recorded on a daily basis in their own digital learning journal.

We consider that learning should be fun and enjoyable so that each child reaches their true potential, academically, socially and physically.
